Coffee shops grow in Phnom Penh

Do you like to drink coffee? Well, I like to go to cafe at my free time but actually I don't like to drink coffee and I often drink Coke or fruit juice.

Why are there many coffee shops in Phnom Penh? Yes there are many coffee shop in Phnom Penh nowadays, from small shop to luxury shop.

Since the 1980s to the 1990s, most of coffee shops are owned by Chinese Cambodians. Their mainly products are coffee and Chinese noodle. Since beginning of the 2000s up to now most of small coffee shops in Cambodia are owned by Vietnamese Cambodians. Their mainly products are only coffee and soft drink and their target customer are teenagers. Shop owners hire young pretty Vietnamese Cambodian girls to attract teenagers. They go to such those coffee shop just for fun by chatting with the waitress, playing chess or listening to music.

Luxury coffee shop also grow in Phnom Penh in recent years. The shop always offer internet connection via WiFi for free and their target customers are university students and businessmen. Some student like to enjoy surfing internet in coffee shop and some businessmen like to make appointment with their customers, business partners or their friends to talk, present or discuss about their business in coffee shop. This is the life-style of the Phnom Penh citizen.
