Taxi metre services first came to Cambodia in 2008 and operated by Global Taxi Metre. Global Taxi Metre started to serve their services with 12 sedans. The company imports Chinese made car brand BYD and all are white color.
Now there are two companies which serve taxi metre services in Cambodia, one is Global Taxi Metre and another one is Choice Taxi which is owned by Korean businessman. Choice Taxi imports Korean made car model Kia Rio in yellow color.
Global Taxi Metre just imported 28 new more cars last week to expand the services in order to compete with Choice Taxi that just launched a kind of economy class taxi with small vans which this new service customers can save up to half of normal fee. Both companies now have about 100 cars each. So taxi metre will soon the transportation services in Phnom Penh. And what about Motodup and Tuk Tuk or will be disappeared like Cyclo?
