Khmer New Year days are about less than one week to go (13-15 April 2012). Most of people in Phnom Penh will go to visit other provinces, some people visit their hometown or their relatives and some people visit other tourism resorts.
So it is a good opportunity for public transportation sector such as taxis and bus companies to make a huge of money once a time. But a problem for passengers is the price because it will be risen up to double or triple. This problem happen every year, not only new year days but on Phchum Ben days and some major national festival days as well.
On 02 April 2012, Phnom Penh City Hall released an announcement for all taxi drivers and trasportation companies to keep the normal price for passenger transpotation services during Khmer New Year festival, such this announcemence always warning for every major national festival days but the price still rise very high.
